About Us

The History of MAGU

MAGU was founded in 1968 by Max Gut in Hüfingen and soon began specializing in the processing of rigid EPS foam for the construction industry.

In its early years, MAGU established an excellent reputation throughout Europe, particularly in the field of lightweight roller shutter boxes.
In 1979, the founder, Max Gut, sold the company to the Günthner family due to his advancing age. Otto Günthner recognized the wide range of applications for our raw material and developed the first MAGU stone.

Following the untimely death of Managing Director Otto Günthner, his wife Rosa took over the business until 1994, when the current Managing Director, Stefan Günthner, took over the company.

Sustainable Production and Energy Efficiency

For more than 50 years, our guiding principle has been to produce economical and environmentally friendly products for the building materials market. Our goal is to develop well-engineered products that can be manufactured in a way that conserves our Earth’s resources, are easy and cost-effective to transport, and are simple and efficient to handle on the construction site.
Once the house is built, our building materials must reliably serve the residents and the environment for many decades, protecting residents from heat and cold just as comfortably as they do from wind, weather, and storms.

Even in production at our main plant in Hüfingen, Baden, we strive to live up to our standards and generate our own process steam entirely from renewable raw materials using state-of-the-art combined heat and power technology in our own cogeneration plant.

We also generate 100 % of our electrical energy in a climate-neutral manner using solar power from our in-house photovoltaic system.

We can therefore say that we actually produce significantly more renewable energy than we need to manufacture our products.
